Anna Moana Rosa Pozzi, better known as Moana Pozzi (27 April 1961 – 15 September 1994), was a prominent Italian pornographic actress, television personality, and politician. Born in Genoa to nuclear engineer Alfredo Pozzi and housewife Rosanna, her family relocated frequently, including stints in Canada and Brazil. Returning to Italy by age 13, she completed schooling in Rome. In 1979, just before 18, she bore son Simone, whom her parents raised as their own to shield from scandal.
Pozzi debuted in adult cinema in 1981 with *Valentina, ragazza in calore*, while moonlighting on children's TV *Tip Tap Club*, sparking outrage. She starred in approximately 100 pornographic films, achieving superstar status with over a million videotapes sold, 50 magazine covers, and wealth surpassing 50 billion lire. She modeled for Chiara Boni and Fendi, hosted TV shows, and authored books like *La filosofia di Moana*.
A Love Party member, she championed sex workers' rights, LGBT causes, anti-Mafia stance, and ran for Rome mayor in 1993. Afflicted by liver cancer in 1994, she succumbed at 33 in Lyon, France; husband Antonio Di Ciesco confessed to assisted suicide. Her passing ignited national mourning and persistent conspiracy theories, cementing her enduring cultural legacy through biopics and miniseries.
