Tina Russell, born Linda Marie Mintzer on September 23, 1948, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, emerged as one of the first true porn stars during the Golden Age of adult films in the early 1970s. After moving to New York City in the late 1960s with her husband Jason Russell, she began with nude modeling, short loops, and live sex shows in Times Square. Her fresh, girl-next-door looks and evident enthusiasm made her stand out, often appearing alongside her husband in films.
Russell advocated for higher-budget, more artistic "pretty fuck films" that appealed to couples. In 1973, she published the memoir Porno Star, the first insider account of the New York adult industry. Active primarily from 1970 to 1975, she became a prominent name before retiring.
She passed away on May 18, 1981, at age 32 in California. Her career laid the blueprint for future adult performers.
