Andrea True, born Andrea Marie Truden on July 26, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Slovenian immigrant parents, was a pioneering American pornographic actress and disco singer. She studied music at George Peabody College and performed on TV as a child. After marrying young and moving to New York, she entered adult films in 1972 with 'Head Nurse,' starring in over 50 titles like 'Deep Throat Part II' (1974), 'Debbie Does Las Vegas' (1979), and directing 'Once Over Nightly' (1975) and 'Mash'd' (1976). Burned out on porn, she pivoted to music as the Andrea True Connection. Her 1976 debut 'More, More, More' hit No. 4 on Billboard Hot 100, No. 1 on disco charts, No. 5 UK, selling millions. Hits followed: 'N.Y., You Got Me Dancing' (No. 27 US), 'Party Line.' She performed 300 shows yearly, topping ASCAP disco lists. Vocal cord surgery halted her career; she later counseled addicts and practiced astrology. True died November 7, 2011, in Kingston, NY, from heart failure at 68.
