Ashley Judd, born Ashley Tyler Ciminella on April 19, 1968, in Los Angeles, California, USA, is an American actress and activist. Daughter of country singer Naomi Judd and half-sister to Wynonna Judd, she grew up in Kentucky after her parents' divorce. She attended the University of Kentucky (BA in French and anthropology) and Harvard Kennedy School (MPA). Judd's acting career began in 1991 on Star Trek: The Next Generation, with her film debut in Kuffs (1992). She rose to fame with Ruby in Paradise (1993), winning Sundance and Independent Spirit Awards. Key films include Kiss the Girls (1997), Double Jeopardy (1999), Frida (2002), and the Divergent series. She has no involvement in adult films or pornography. A UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador, Judd advocates for women's rights, gender equality, and against sexual violence. Married racing driver Dario Franchitti (2001-2013), she released memoir All That Is Bitter and Sweet (2011).
