Céline Bara, born Céline Szumigay on September 9, 1978, in Antony, France, grew up in the Parisian region with a Mauritian mother and German grandfather, under a Catholic fundamentalist education she later rejected for militant atheism. She married her cousin Cyrille Bara, worked as a Darty store hostess, and entered the adult film industry for higher earnings, performing for French companies. Nominated for a 2000 Hot d'Or as Best New French Starlet, she and her husband founded their own studio, MAL, though it incurred heavy debt.
In 2001, they assaulted competitor HPG, leading to Cyrille wounding him with a shotgun; both were arrested and sentenced in 2002 to four years' imprisonment, including two years' probation. Post-release, unemployed and indebted, they relied on welfare, settled in Ariège, where Céline stripped occasionally and resumed filming, distributing freely online. She co-authored the 2007 autobiography La Sodomite.
In 2012, they formed the far-left Antitheist and Libertine Movement party; Céline ran for parliament on anti-capitalist, anti-religious, neo-Stalinist platform, receiving 1. 58% of votes. She retired from performing in September 2012.
