John B. Root, born Jean Guilloré on November 28, 1958, in Chambéry, France, is a French male director and producer of pornographic films. He adopted the alias "John B.
Root" (a play on French slang for penis and Jean Racine's name) after success as a children's writer and TV cameraman. In 1994, he created France's first interactive porn CD-ROM, leading to his own production company. He directed early features like Cyberix (1996) and Sextet (1997), earning acclaim for scripted, intellectual porn.
He worked with performers including Liza Del Sierra, Lou Charmelle, Titof (a favorite), and others, advocating safe sex and anti-misogyny. Root launched explicite. com (later explicite-art.
com), produced hundreds of videos, and won Hot d'or and European X awards. He appeared as a performer in POV videos from 2005. Despite industry challenges, he continued directing scripted films for Canal+.
