Gloria Leonard (born Gale Sandra Klinetsky, August 28, 1940 – February 3, 2014) was a pioneering American pornographic actress, director, magazine publisher, and free speech activist. Raised in New York's Bronx by Russian Jewish immigrants, she worked as a stockbroker, Elektra Records PR executive, and film producer before entering adult films in 1974 at age 34 as a divorced single mother. She starred in over 70 features, including Radley Metzger's acclaimed 'The Opening of Misty Beethoven' (1976), 'Taboo: American Style' (1985, Best Actress AFAA award), and directed 'All About Gloria Leonard' (1978). Retiring from performing in 1984, she served as publisher of High Society (1977-1991), pioneering 900-number phone sex lines generating millions and launching Celebrity Skin. A pro-sex feminist, she led the Adult Film Association (1986-1989), Free Speech Coalition (1998+), debated anti-porn feminists, and defended the industry in court. Inducted into AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame, she died from stroke complications in Hawaii at 73, leaving a trailblazing legacy.
