Tom Bianchi, born on August 1, 1945, in Oak Park, Illinois, is an American photographer and writer celebrated for his male nude photography. After earning a law degree from Northwestern University and working as a corporate attorney in New York, he shifted to art in the early 1970s. Bianchi became captivated by Fire Island's gay scene, documenting its vibrant, erotic energy through Polaroids and photography. His images capture pre-AIDS joy and classical male beauty. As the AIDS crisis hit, he turned to activism, participating in early clinical trials and chronicling loss while promoting resilience. Bianchi has authored numerous books, exhibited internationally, and explored themes of desire, love, and consciousness. Now based in Palm Springs, California, his work continues to influence queer art, blending personal narrative with social history. He remains an advocate for artistic expression and gay rights.
