Thomas Joseph Strada, known as Tommy Gunn, was born on May 13, 1967, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. His father is of Italian descent, and his maternal grandfather was Chinese. In his youth, Gunn pursued sports like BMX, motorcycles, and soccer, and overcame shyness around girls by bodybuilding. He entered a "hot body" contest, lost, but was offered a job as a stripper, working globally for ten years.
Gunn began his adult film career in 2004, earning the 2005 AVN Best Male Newcomer award, 2006 AVN Best Supporting Actor for *Pirates*, and 2007 Male Performer of the Year.
