He earned a Bachelor of Science in economics and a master's in public administration, and served over 25 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Married for 22 years, he had two children and four grandchildren. Entering the adult film industry at nearly 55 with *The Devil in Miss Jones 5: The Inferno*, Cummings appeared in hundreds of films, renowned for his sexual stamina and occasional Viagra use for demanding scenes. He billed himself as the "oldest living male pornstar," was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2007 and the XRCO Hall of Fame in 2011. Cummings died on October 5, 2019, at age 79 in Oceanside, California, from Alzheimer's disease, and was buried at Miramar National Cemetery.
