Gloria Leonard, born Gale Sandra Klinetsky on August 28, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, was a pioneering American pornographic actress, director, and magazine publisher. Entering the adult film industry in the mid-1970s at age 36 as a divorced single mother, she quickly rose to prominence with acclaimed roles in classics like Radley Metzger's The Opening of Misty Beethoven (1976). She appeared in around 40 films, including works by Gerard Damiano and Joseph W. Sarno, and directed All About Gloria Leonard (1978). Beyond performing, Leonard became publisher of High Society magazine, pioneered phone sex lines, and was a vocal advocate for free speech and the adult industry on talk shows. She also served on industry boards. Of Russian-Jewish descent, she passed away on February 3, 2014, in Waimea, Hawaii, at age 73, leaving a legacy as a feminist voice in pornography during its Golden Age.
