C. J. Laing, born Wendy Miller on August 1, 1956, in New York City, emerged as a prominent figure in adult films during the Golden Age of Porn in the 1970s.
A native New Yorker, she relocated to San Francisco where she auditioned for the Mitchell Brothers and began appearing in explicit loops. Returning east, she debuted in features under aliases like Gwen Starr, starring alongside Jamie Gillis. Over a five-year career, she performed in more than fifty films and loops, delivering energetic and intense scenes in classics such as Anyone But My Husband, Barbara Broadcast, and Water Power.
Laing's raw style and down-to-earth appeal distinguished her among peers. She retired by 1979 but received inductions into the AVN Hall of Fame and XRCO Hall of Fame as a pioneer. Her work captured the era's mix of narrative and explicit content, leaving a lasting legacy in adult entertainment history.
