Harry Reems, born Herbert John Streicher on August 27, 1947, in New York City to a Jewish family, became a legendary figure in adult entertainment. The youngest of three children, his family moved to affluent Westchester, New York. After attending the University of Pittsburgh for dentistry and serving honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps, he immersed himself in off-Broadway theater in Manhattan's East Village.

Adopting the stage name Harry Reems, he starred in over 140 adult films from 1971-1974 and 1982-1985, most famously as Doctor Young in the groundbreaking 1972 film Deep Throat, which propelled him to stardom, and as The Teacher in The Devil in Miss Jones (1973). His career faced a major setback with a 1974 federal obscenity indictment over Deep Throat, leading to a conviction overturned in 1977.

Retiring in 1985 after XRCO and AVN Hall of Fame inductions, Reems battled drug addiction and homelessness before recovering in 1989 in Utah. He married Jeanne Sterret in 1990, converted to Christianity, and worked as a real estate agent. He passed away from pancreatic cancer on March 19, 2013, in Salt Lake City at age 65.
